The second hour of the Diva session - This is where our Workshop gets Diva-lishous. We ALL have that inner Sass and I'm here to master your "Diva Sass!" I will breakdown each step you need to take, starting at the foundation, your walking, posing, and stage presence. Each class will be a stepping stone.  You'll get Homework week to week; with drills and technique.  We cannot Create the Sassiness without the basics - AKA- we can't build a house without the foundation. We will go over all the necessities so you will BE a pro on stage – ladies, this takes time and we have the time to practice.  I will go over tanning, makeup, theme sportswear ideas, suits, shows, and all questions that you have regarding our sport.  Come and join our SISTERHOOD of DIVAS and CSF - let's reunite for a strong season ahead! Perfect Skin...

As I was growing up my mother would tell me "Paula, take care of your skin, stay out of the sun, don't scrunch your forehead or else you will look like your father." At the time, like any other kid, I would roll my eyes. Now at 37 I absolutely take care of my skin, I wear sun screen daily and am still trying not to scrunch my forehead.  Two out three things ain’t bad as Meatloaf says! If you don't know who Meatloaf is then you are too young.
But you are never too young to start taking care of your skin. Cleanse your skin, moisturize twice daily, use separate eye cream and use sun screen. Those are 4 products that should be part of every woman’s beauty ritual. And yes it is a ritual. Just like any habit once you start it, it won't take you long. There are other products you can add to your regime but if you are a basic no fuss kind of girl you will be fine with these steps. If you are like me and are deathly afraid of aging (yes, I am) - then you need more steps. Masks are a must (cleansing and hydrating) depending on the season. Exfoliating can be done with gentle scrubs or my favorite new product the Clarsonic Mia. It is worth every penny. It makes your skin feel so soft. It says you can use it twice a day but I found that my skin couldn't handle it so I use it once a day with my cleanser. I also like to use skin brighteners to keep my skin tone even.
I was a sun worshiper as a kid (yes, even when my mother used to tell me not to use the baby oil I did anyway). Oh and those lovely tanning beds - yep did those too. I am very lucky that I don't have a lot of skin damage. I am not just guessing, my dermatologist said so. I see her every year.  I must say that even though I do take care of my skin, genetics has been helping a lot too. Don't get me wrong, I love having sun kissed skin I just got a pool this summer so I better spend some time out there or my husband will divorce me. So when I am floating in my raft I use sunscreen, big sunglasses and a big sun hat. My husband says you’re going to get weird tan lines. I tell him that's what makeup is for! I can fix that easily. I would rather look like a bug than wrinkled and dried up!
Drinking water is also another step to having great skin.  I started this habit very early on life, once again because of my mother.  And of course, working up a sweat is important, at least once a day. Sweating cleanses your skin. Your skin is the biggest organ so you better protect it.
To conclude this lesson, I go back to those famous words my beautiful mother said to me, Ttake care of your skin, don't go in the sun (without sun screen) and don't scrunch your forehead or else you will look like your father. Listen to your mother or at least mine, she does know best.

I have been buying jewelry from Lindsay at PBO since she started selling it.  I have purchased pieces for stage and pieces for everyday.  Let me start by saying every piece Lindsay purchases for the PBO collection are pieces she would and does wear herself.  Don't be fooled by the affordable pricing!  These are quality pieces not that junk you by at the mall!  It is unfortunate that you only see photos on a website.  In person each piece is stunning and when you pick them expecting them to be flimsy you are surprised by how substantial and well made they are.  I get numerous complements every time I wear a piece of PBO jewelry! I absolutely love every piece I own.

Did you know this about Alcohol?

The Truth Behind Cocktails …

Rather than alcohol getting stored as fat, the main fate of alcohol is conversion into a substance called acetate. The blood levels of "acetate" after drinking the vodka were 2.5 times higher than normal and it appears this high increase in acetate puts the a big Hold on fat loss.
For an example: A car engine typically uses only one source of fuel. Your body, on the other hand, draws from a number of different energy sources, such as carbohydrate, fat, and protein. Your body tends to use whatever you feed it. Your Body is your Car and the Fuel. is your food! Consequently, when acetate levels rise, your body simply burns more acetate, and less fat. In essence, acetate pushes fat to the back of the queue.
So, to review, here's what happens to fat metabolism after your cocktail drink or two.
•                A small portion of the alcohol is converted into fat.
•                Your liver then converts most of the alcohol into acetate.
•                The acetate is then released into your bloodstream, and replaces fat as a source of fuel.
The way your body responds to alcohol is very similar to the way it deals with excess carbohydrate.
A little Fact on to much of anything... Although carbohydrate can be converted directly into fat, one of the main effects of overfeeding with carbohydrate it simply replaces fat as a source of energy. That's why any type of diet, whether it's high-fat, high-protein, or high-carbohydrate, can lead to a gain in weight. You always want equal portions with smaller meals and eating 5-6x a day!
The combination of alcohol and a high-calorie meal is especially fattening, mainly because alcohol acts as a potent appetizer. "A Canadian study shows that an aperitif (an alcoholic drink taken before a meal to increase the appetite) increased calorie intake to a greater extent than a carbohydrate-based drink "
So between the acetate and "fattening" alcohol eating this can really slow the process down from your weight lose goals. So be mindful of the drinks and eating at the sometime. I like to choose one or the other if I’m out to dinner and I try to have a cocktail once a week. But, to be honest I love food more!  :)
